We follow the green and white signs for Bike Route 20 that takes us along a bike path that parallels the canal. We pass a few parks and Marin Jr College before reaching Ross Commons.

We continue on another bike route that takes us to Lagunitas, Shady Ln, Bolinas and San Anselmo Ave. The latter parts parallels Center Blvd. Proceed with caution at this point and obey the stop signs. The San Anselmo Police won't hesitate to pull you over. I've been cited once before; the cost of the ticket back then was $140.

We reach the town of Fairfax and continue on Sir Francis Drake Blvd to climb White's Hill. We pass the golf courses before the turn on Nicasio Valley Rd.

There is a regroup at Nicasio. Beverages and snacks are available at the store. There are porta potties for public use next to the ball field.

We continue on Nicasio Valley Rd to Pt Reyes-Petaluma Rd and ride along the reservoir. We make the right turn at the colored bridge to stay on Pt Reyes-Petaluma Rd.

The lunch stop is at Pt Reyes Station. Water and restrooms are available at the park behind the Palace Market. You can hit the Bovine Bakery for their baked goods and coffee or order a sandwich or purchase other grocery items at the market.

After lunch, we head south on Hwy 1 towards Olema and turn left on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. We climb Olema Hill before taking the bike path through Samuel P. Taylor Park.

There is no signage for the turn onto the bike path. You can easily miss it if you descend too fast. You can also make a left turn on Platform Bridge Rd and make another immediate left to get onto the bike path. Water and restrooms are available as you ride through the park.

We exit the park and take Sir Francis Drake Blvd all the way back to Fairfax. The road conditions are pretty bad all the way to Lagunitas. We pass Forest Knolls, San Geronimo and Woodacre before climbing the backside of White's Hill. There is a ice cream stop at Fairfax Scoop. They serve handmade ice cream made on site with fresh organic local ingredients. The cones and waffle cups are also house made. I have a single split scoop; peach and blackberry swirl. It's not too sweet and taste very yummy!

On the return, we take all the little side streets once again through San Anselmo and continue on Kent Ave to Magnolia. We turn on Bon Air Rd to hop back on the bike path back to the Ferry Terminal parking lot.

Thanks to Phil for leading today's ride and showing us another way of getting to San Anselmo.

20+ people in attendance with 2 tandems; Wyatt and myself & Adrian and Mary.

51 miles with 2238' of elevation gain

Weather: Fabulous! Warm and sunny throughout the whole ride. It actually felt like summer!
